Juried Watermedia Art Exhibit - 2015

 Saginaw Area Watermedia Artist

Saginaw Charter Township’s “Art in Public Places” proudly presents the artwork by members of the Saginaw Area Watermedia Artists (SAWA).  The show will be on display Wednesday, July 1 through Thursday July 30 at Saginaw Charter Township Hall, 4980 Shattuck Road.  Exhibit hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (closed July 3rd).

This year’s juried exhibit will feature the paintings of 23 SAWA artists.  More than 60 pieces of original artwork will be on display and for sale throughout the Township Hall.  The exhibit, which ranges from landscapes to portraits and abstracts, provides a wonderful variety of subject matter and styles.  This year’s juror is Andrew Rieder.  He is currently an Assistant Professor of Art and the coordinator for the Art program at Delta College, where he has been a full-time faculty member for the past 5 years.  His work has been featured in regional, national, and international exhibitions, and is part of multiple public and private collections.

The award winners for the 2015 exhibit are:  Janet Faerber, Bill Brinker, Janice Wegner, Leslie Tincknell, and Deanna Bergman all of Saginaw; D. Joanne Rummel of Midland and Stacie Rose of Birch Run.  Click here to see the award winning pieces.

Saginaw Area Watermedia Artists is a non-profit organization composed of artists from the Saginaw and Mid-Michigan area.  They meet once a month at the Saginaw Art Museum for the purpose of learning about watermedia, growing in their artistic endeavors, socializing and offering fine art to the community.  As part of SAWA’s mission to encourage a love of the arts, each year a donation is given to a local school or organization that provides art education, for much needed art supplies.  If you are interested in watermedia and would like to find out more about the group, please contact SAWA President, Stacie Rose at 989-239-4445.  You can also find SAWA at www.sawaarts.org and on Facebook.
