ARTIST STATEMENT
Ms. Newcom is a self-taught artist from Corunna, Michigan.  I am a retired fourth grade teacher who always had a love for art.  Upon retirement in 2000 from teaching, I totally dive into art…taking many workshops, working at an Art Center, joining artist guilds and by reading books/watching videos by many artists…but mainly observing art and talking to artists about their work.  I love to try many different types of media…from watercolor/acrylics, pen and ink, yupo, canvas, fabric.  But most of all I love color, the brighter the better…along with details, the more the merrier.  As in life, often finding and not knowing when to Stop!  I like my art to put a smile on people’s faces and tend to be more whimsical than realistic.

Susan’s art exhibit will be shown at the Saginaw Charter Township Hall, 4980 Shattuck Road, Saginaw, Michigan, during business hours Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 p.m., March 1 through March 29, 2018.
