The original Saginaw Township Police Department patch was modeled off the patch of the Michigan State Police. This patch was replaced by the current patch which happened in 2001.
In 2000, Sgt. John Sadowski, Officer Matthew Eckerman and Officer Scott Jackson worked together to create a new patch for STPD. The new design would be focused toward the style of the New York City Police Department patch.
Two options were created and presented to
the members of the department for a vote in early 2000. With a vote of 22-19, the top patch (gold color) was selected as the soon-to-be new patch of the Saginaw Township Police Department.
