Frequently Asked Questions

How late do the garbage truck drivers work?
Residents should have their trash out by 7:00 am on their regular service day.  If your properly prepared materials were out within the proper time frame but but not picked up, please leave them out until they are serviced.  Report all missed collections on your service day or before 5:00 pm the next business day by calling MMWA at (989) 781-9555.  Each resident has a one business day window to report a missed pick-up. Remember, you have a service day not a collection time, routes run until finished.

What holidays affect trash pick-up?
Holidays that fall on weekdays cause collection to be delayed one day for that day and the following service days for the rest of that week.  MMWA  observes the following holidays:  New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

How do I dispose of fluorescent tubes?
Fluorescent bulbs and tubes can be dropped off at one of MMWA's Special Waste Drop Off events.  The program runs from May through September and is free to residents of Saginaw County, Bethany Township, Village of Breckenridge, and Wheeler Township.  The events cannot accept waste from businesses, farms, schools, or non-profit organizations.

Residents can also contact stores like Walmart and Home Depot to see if they have a fluorescent bulb recycling program.
