REFUSE / RECYCLE

Saginaw Township Waste Management Program

Normal pick-up days depend on your location:

Residents living South of Weiss Street have pick up on Mondays and residents living North of Weiss Street have Tuesday pick up. Refuse must be placed at curbside by 7:00 a.m. Under no conditions is such refuse to be placed at curbside before 5:00 p.m., the evening before pick up day.

Saginaw Township's Waste Management Program serves all single family and duplex structures with curbside collection of Trash, Recyclables, and Yard Waste. (Those not served under this program must obtain their own private service.) Curbside pick up is funded by an assessment-for-service charge upon all properties which are served. Saginaw Township is a member of the Mid Michigan Waste Authority, a public consortium of 35 municipalities, that provides residential waste collection disposal and processing services to its members. Collection services are contracted to Waste Management. Questions should be directed to Mid Michigan Waste Authority (MMWA) at 781-9555 or visit their website at:

Major Holidays:

When a major holiday falls on a Monday or Tuesday, collection days will be pushed back a day. For example: If Christmas Day is on a Monday, Monday's pick up will be Tuesday, and Tuesday's pick up will be Wednesday. The major holidays are: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Christmas Day.

Proper set-out of trash, recycling, & yard waste:

Each property owner needs to place 3 separate containers for pick up at the curbside: One for trash, one for yard waste, and one for recyclables. There are three separate trucks which will pick up each separate container on the appointed day of resident's pick up. Residents should allow 3 feet between containers of recyclables, refuse, and yard waste so that the collection crew can properly identify and pick up your materials easier and faster.
